How is my wheego RENT vehicle insured?

In addition to comprehensive liability insurance, your wheego car is fully comprehensive insured. The fully comprehensive insurance also includes the benefits of a partially comprehensive insurance. The deductible for partial and fully comprehensive damage depends on the wheego vehicle model booked. The deductible for micro cars and all passenger cars is € 15,000.00 per claim and for vans (all groups) € 20,000.00. You have the option of reducing your excess to up to €0.00 by booking a protection package. The minimum age for the Premium protection package is 24 years. The booking of a protection package can be made both on the wheego website and at the wheego rental stations before the start of the rental period. The prices of the individual protection packages can be found in our price list.

What do I do in the event of an accident or damage?

The wheego claims hotline is available for you around the clock 24/7. If you have an accident, it is imperative that you inform us immediately. We will provide you with the number of the wheego damage hotline before handing over your wheego vehicle. Please always inform the police in the event of an accident or damage – regardless of whether third parties have been harmed or not. If the police inform you that they refuse to record an accident, you must request written confirmation of this from the police and hand this over to wheego when you return the vehicle. This is the only way to ensure that the fully comprehensive insurance applies and that you are only liable within the scope of the excess.

What is the procedure in the event of damage?

You can also rely on wheego in the event of a claim. Our own claims management team is available for you around the clock, supports you and helps you organize the next steps. You will receive the number of the damage hotline from us when you rent the vehicle. In the event of an accident, please always call the police in order to clarify the question of fault properly. Depending on the type of damage (accident or warranty claim), we will check whether or not you are required to pay an excess. The amount of the excess depends on the wheego vehicle model booked. For micro cars and all car groups, this is €15,000.00 per claim and €20,000.00 for vans.

What does the liability insurance for your wheego RENT vehicle cover?

Motor vehicle liability insurance covers damage that you as a driver cause to other people, their property or assets.

What does the fully comprehensive insurance for your wheego RENT vehicle cover?

Fully comprehensive insurance also includes the benefits of partially comprehensive insurance. This means that you are insured for damage that is not your fault, e.g. if your car is stolen or in the event of storm damage such as storms or lightning strikes. You are also insured for damage and accidents caused by your own fault. A deductible is required for each accidental damage claim.

What is not covered by fully comprehensive insurance?

Comprehensive insurance does not cover damage caused by loss of keys, fuel cards or documents (e.g. vehicle registration certificate). In addition, fully comprehensive insurance does not cover punctures. Therefore, wheego vehicles are equipped with spare tires or tire kits.

How does the deductible work with wheego?

If you have an accident or damage caused by yourself, this is covered by fully comprehensive insurance. A deductible will be charged for each claim, plus a processing fee of €50 and expert costs. The amount of the deductible depends on the wheego vehicle group booked.

What damages will be settled at the end of my rental?

Your wheego rental rate includes signs of wear and tear such as minor scratches on door handles or in the interior. Naturally occurring signs of wear and tear, such as tire and brake wear, are also included. After the subscription expires, scratches that need to be painted, dents that need to be pressed out or stone chips that need to be repaired will be charged. For each claim, you will be charged a maximum of the agreed excess plus a claims handling fee of €50.

In April 2021, Hubert Terstappen founded share-tec GmbH (as part of the VCC Group), which holds the wheego brand rights and brought on board several experienced members and car rental experts from the former Buchbinder and Global Management and Franchise team. wheego is a brand of share-tec GmbH. Hubert Terstappen is one of the leading personalities in the mobility industry. He started his own car rental business back in 1987 and expanded throughout Germany. After the merger with Buchbinder, Hubert Terstappen became Managing Director of the Group and developed the company into the fourth-largest mobility provider in Germany and the market leader in Austria with over 30,000 vehicles at 165 locations. The entrepreneur also founded the international franchise system Global Rent a Car and expanded the brand into 20 countries worldwide. Following the successful sale of the Buchbinder Group to Europcar, he was responsible for the integration into the Europcar Mobility Group and was appointed Managing Director of Europcar in Germany. He left the company in 2020 and founded the VCC VENTURES Group and the associated companies share-tec GmbH, mobi-tec GmbH and PARKsmart. In the first financial year, Hubert Terstappen and the wheego team achieved all planned milestones. The Share, Rent, Auto Abo and Car Sales products were successfully launched, the wheego-mobility.com website and the wheego app (iOS and Android) were launched and the first wheego Mobility Stores were opened in Berlin, Hamburg, Vienna and other major cities. The wheego franchise partner program also got off to a very successful start.
